The 2022 Festival of Wreaths and Trees in Mount Union

To: All organizations, families, individuals, and businesses

November 12, 2022

Greetings from Leslie and Christine Armagost!

The holidays are already right around the corner.  How did that happen so fast?  What a year this has been!  (One of these years we’ll get the timing right and get these letters out earlier.)

It is our pleasure to announce that the Festival of Wreaths and Trees in Mount Union will again be hosted by the Mount Union Presbyterian Church (corner of Shirley and N. Division Streets), over the second weekend of December, 2022.  The hours will be:

Friday Dec. 9: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Saturday Dec. 10: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Sunday Dec. 11: 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Setup will be on Thursday Dec. 8 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM; pick up after 3:00 PM Sunday.

Our Facebook group is titled “Festival of Wreaths and Trees in Mount Union” and our website is FestWreathsTreesMU.com .  Should something happen such that the Festival location has to close, like terrible weather, we can still hold the event online.  Online display and voting for those who can’t make it in person has been working, too!

This year, instead of a specific category in addition to trees and wreaths, we decided to go for a general “Other” category.  Want to show off your Decorated Stockings?  Ornate Ornaments?  Handmade Nativity Scenes?  Ugly Christmas Sweaters?  This is the category for you!   (The number of prizes for this category will depend on the number of entries.)

The guidelines for entry are included with this letter, and will be available in our Facebook group and on our website as well.  (We recommend registry in advance so we can plan how to arrange the Festival, but if you just bring your entry on Thursday the 8th, we certainly won’t turn you away!).

Hopefully the live music portion of the Festival will be returning this year in the form of student performances!  We’re crossing our fingers and will post online as soon as we know.

We have yet to choose the organization to which we’d like to donate the proceeds from ornament sales this year.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

And finally, if anyone would like a turn to use the beautiful straw-colored tree this year, let us know as far in advance as possible.  We’re pretty sure that it is actually an aging (and thereby discolored) white tree, but it sure aged gracefully, and is one-of-a-kind now - but we don’t know how many years more it will last.  Hopefully everyone that would like to use it will be able to have a turn.

Many thanks again to Cathy and Norm Wilson, without whom the Festival would not be what it is.  And special thanks to the MU Historical Society, the MU Chamber of Commerce, and the MU Presbyterian Church, and everyone who comes to help set up and take down the Festival for their invaluable help!

Without all of you, the Festival of Wreaths and Trees would not be possible.  We sincerely thank you all and hope to see you at the Festival!
